The mobile barcode and RFID scanner gives you high flexibility and – thanks to its powerful primary battery – great independence in your daily work. Its convincing user-friendliness and high-class equipment allows you to work faster and more efficiently. With its unique reading distance of up to 4m the AT-870 is extremely flexible applicable.

The reader comes with USB and Bluetooth interface and WLAN. By default the AT-870 offers a 1D barcode scanner but can be upgraded with a 2D Imager and RFID read/write-options. As options you can add GPS, GSM, GPRS, EDGE und HSDPA to the AT-870 reader which makes it extremely flexible and a perfect tool for all applications of mobile data entry such as inventory management, logistics or distribution.

MIFARE chips - now with 7-digit UID

The so-called Unique Identifiers of a MIFARE chip are a highly important safety factor as it allows the card reader to identify the chip and approve authorization of the card. Each UID consists of a determined number of figures and is assigned only once. It can be seen the fingerprint of the MIFARE chip.

Up to this day a MIFARE UID consisted of a 4-digit code. By the end of 2010, as forecasts are, all 4-digit combinations of figures will be assigned and therefore there will be no unique IDs to be given out to new MIFARE chip cards. This would lead to a strong risk for the safety of MIFARE based security systems.

World leading chip card provider NXP has foreseen this scenario and offers their clients multiple solutions to keep their MIFARE systems as secure as possible.

Starting in the middle of 2010 NXP will provide MIFARE Classic cards containing a 7 byte UID. All chip families released after 2001 already imply 7-digit UIDs. These are MIFARE Ultralight, MIFARE Ultralight C, MIFARE DESFire, MIFARE DESFire EV1 und MIFARE Plus. All these new generations of chip cards can be purchased from YouCard directly. Cards with MIFARE Plus chips even offer an option which allows the usage of 4-digit or 7-digit UID. This is necessary for the unobstructed migration of a system from MIFARE Classic to MIFARE Plus card.

Besides this preferable product-specific solution there is the possibility to still order MIFARE Classic cards which contain a 4 byte ID. Customers have to be aware of the fact that uniqueness of these IDs cannot be guaranteed as they come from older generations of chips. Still of course there will be  measures taken to avoid duplications of IDs in one system. For this purpose NXP will hand out “Best Practice” guidebooks with which customers will be able to optimize the security of their chip card system on one's own responsibility.

If your system requires highest security standards YouCard and NXP strongly recommend the use of new RFID chips such as MIFARE Plus or MIFARE DESFire EV1. In systems already using MIFARE Classic chip cards, a migration to MIFARE Plus cards would be the preferable choice. YouCard is your partner for the easy and cheap migration of your system.

YouCard's MIFARE know-how is certified

YouCard has got long years of experience in the business of plastic cards, contact chip cards, RFID cards and card printers. Still we would never rest on our laurels. Therefore our employees participate regularly in relevant training courses.

In March 2010 YouCard attended a course by NXP on the highly topical issue MIFARE RFID cards. The new chip generations MIFARE DESFire EV1 and MIFARE Plus offer highest protection against data theft and manipulation. YouCard is proud to be one of the very first providers being able to encode and personalize these new generations of chips in one work step by using our own developed software solution

Evolution instead of Revolution Evolis Tattoo²

German Presidency EU2007.de and G8 Summit 2007

The Presidency of the Council of the European Union is held by Germany for the period of the first six months of 2007. A lot of ministerial meetings and conventions take place in German country during its Presidency. In addition the G8 presidency 2007 is held by Germany, too. The G8 leaders will meet for their annual G8 summit 2007 in Heiligendamm.
