HID OCR316-E

The HID OCR316-E is a compact and rugged OCR swipe reader with an integrated magnetic stripe reader (MSR). It is specifically designed for fast and reliable capture of machine-readable zones (MRZ) on identity documents as well as magnetic stripe cards. Compared to the OCR315-E model, which supports OCR reading only, the OCR316-E adds the benefit of combined OCR and magnetic card recognition.

The OCR316-E accurately reads passports, visas, residence permits, and national ID cards, as well as credit cards, frequent flyer cards, and customer cards with magnetic stripes. The reader complies with international standards ICAO 9303 (for 2- and 3-line MRZ) and ISO 7811/2-5 (for magnetic stripes), ensuring high compatibility and reading accuracy.

Thanks to its slim design (approx. 150 × 44 × 45 mm), the reader integrates seamlessly into any work environment—whether at bank counters, check-in terminals, government offices, or retail locations. The scanner connects easily to existing systems via USB, while LED status indicators and acoustic signals provide intuitive user guidance.

Typical use cases include KYC processes in banking, patient or visitor registration, border and security control, as well as age and identity verification in retail and hospitality.
